Copper State Chaos: Hiding From Her Record, Spiking Healthcare Costs, and a “Can’t Do Much” Governor
1/30/26, 7:30 PM
Welcome to Copper State Chaos, Copper State War Room’s weekly recap on the fails, feuds, and full-blown chaos in the Arizona GOP gubernatorial primary.
As Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert are locked in a bitter race to the bottom, this primary is spiraling into an ugly, expensive mess. We’ll keep the receipts – so you don’t have to.
Don’t miss this week’s chaos:
ANYTHING TO SAY, KARRIN?: Billionaire Corporate Lobbyist Karrin Taylor Robson’s campaign keeps retreating into total silence when asked basic questions about her own weak and failed record. Taylor Robson refused to explain her support for cost-hiking tariffs. She failed to respond to former Republican Gov. Jan Brewer’s warning that “people will die” as a result of the partisan Washington budget that slashes Medicaid. From fabricating her insider history, refusing to elaborate on why she agrees with Trump on ending vote by mail, and declining to explain why she appeared in an ad in 2022 supporting in-state tuition for DREAMers only to abandon that position in 2025, Taylor Robson has shown she is terrified of answering questions about her out-of-touch positions.
HEALTHCARE PREMIUMS JUMP 30 PERCENT: Did you notice your health insurance premium go up this year? You have Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert to thank for that. All three GOP candidates backed eliminating healthcare tax credits for over 400,000 Arizonans, forcing a 30 percent rate hike on their premiums. For some Arizonans, premiums exceeded their monthly mortgage payments. Despite costs skyrocketing, Biggs and Schweikert voted against bipartisan efforts to reverse the damage, and Taylor Robson remained silent.
“CAN’T DO MUCH” CANDIDATE: Billionaire Corporate Lobbyist Karrin Taylor Robson admitted she “can’t do much” to lower costs as governor, even as the tariffs she supports drive grocery prices, utility bills, and homebuilding supply costs to all-time highs. While Arizona families and small businesses struggle with operating costs skyrocketing as high as 50 percent, Taylor Robson has proven she is too weak to stand up for Arizona and will continue to stand by her cost-hiking agenda.
That’s all for Copper State Chaos this week. Thanks for reading – we’ll be back next week to keep tabs on the chaos. Have a great weekend!
