New Clip: Schweikert Doubles Down on Mocking Arizonans Worried About Healthcare Cuts as “Bedwetters”

3/26/26, 3:00 PM

When Arizonans were “terrified” of Andy Biggs and David Schweikert’s drastic cuts to healthcare, Schweikert mocked them for "whining and bedwetting.” Now, in a newly uncovered clip from a radio show, Schweikert complained about getting called out and doubled down on calling Arizonans “bedwetters” if they are concerned about the healthcare cuts he voted for, saying: “I referred to some folks as, I think I used the word ‘bedwetters’ because they weren’t willing to step up and understand the actual math.” Schweikert then gave some advice to Arizonans who are losing healthcare because of his votes: “just toughen up.”

Both Biggs and Schweikert championed the partisan budget law that stripped healthcare tax credits away from 423,000 Arizonans. Last year, Copper State War Room called out David Schweikert’s Super PAC for a campaign ad that falsely claimed he hadn’t sold out Arizonans. In that same ad, Schweikert actually bragged about how he “co-wrote” the exact legislation that increased healthcare costs for families while providing tax breaks to billionaires. Biggs called this DC budget bill a “good thing.” And despite Arizona’s healthcare plans increasing nearly 30 percent on average, both Biggs and Schweikert voted against bipartisan efforts to reverse the damage and lower costs. Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said: “After already being called bedwetters, Arizonans don’t need a condescending lecture on math from DC politician David Schweikert to understand that both he and Andy Biggs are ripping away healthcare and jacking up costs. It’s Schweikert who should stop complaining and ‘toughen up’ by explaining why he’s championing a disastrous economic agenda that is crushing Arizonans.”
