Five Days, Five Ways Andy Biggs and Kari Lake Share the Same Extreme Agenda, Day Five Extra: Attacking Senator John McCain

5/8/26, 6:00 PM

Copper State War Room is continuing its “Five Days, Five Ways” press release series, highlighting how Andy Biggs is carrying forward Kari Lake’s extreme and out-of-touch agenda, this time with an extra on Day Five: Attacking Senator John McCain.

Andy Biggs and Kari Lake have attacked the legacy of Senator John McCain, a war hero who dedicated his life to serving Arizona and the country.

  • Andy Biggs shared a stage with extremists attacking Senator John McCain and later refused to disavow it. In 2015, when he was Arizona Senate president, Biggs sat silently at an event as Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes declared that Senator McCain “should be tried for treason before a jury of his peers” and should be “hung by the neck until dead.” Biggs later said he did not feel it was his place to speak up.

  • Lake repeatedly attacked McCain and his supporters during her campaign. At a 2021 event, she told McCain supporters to “get the hell out” and declared that “John McCain may be dead, but he is reaching up from the grave trying to keep power in Arizona.” After winning the 2022 primary, she boasted that “we drove a stake through the heart of the McCain machine.”

Their attacks stand in stark contrast to the respect Arizonans of both parties continue to hold for Senator McCain’s decades of service to Arizona and to the country.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“John McCain dedicated his life to Arizona and to this country. The fact that Andy Biggs stayed silent while a speaker called for him to be executed, and that Kari Lake mocked his legacy for sport, shows just how far outside the mainstream their toxic agenda really is.”

Copper State War Room will continue highlighting five key ways Biggs is out of step with Arizona voters throughout the week. If you missed earlier editions, you can find them here: Day One: Election Denialism; Day Two: Banning Abortion; Day Three: Supporting the January 6 Insurrection; Day Four: Associating with Extremists; Day Five: Engaging in Desperate Loser Behavior.
