Copper State Chaos: Siding With Abusers, DC > AZ, and Fueling Doom
4/17/26, 9:30 PM
Welcome to Copper State Chaos, Copper State War Room’s weekly recap on the fails, feuds, and full-blown chaos in the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary.
With Andy Biggs and David Schweikert locked in a bitter race to the bottom, this primary is spiraling into an ugly, expensive mess. We’ll keep the receipts – so you don’t have to.
Don’t miss this week’s chaos:
SIDING WITH ABUSERS: Instead of standing with survivors, Andy Biggs will attend a rally of DC insiders at a venue that was “previously named as a defendant in a lawsuit involving the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl.” It’s not the first time Biggs has chosen to stand with abusers over survivors. Just last year, Biggs voted against a bipartisan effort to release the Epstein files and called it a “ploy” and a “PR stunt.”
DC > AZ: The day before Andy Biggs appeared on stage with Donald Trump, new comments were unearthed revealing Biggs privately defending cost-hiking tariffs as “not inflationary” and arguing that Trump had “tamed inflation.” Is that a joke? Unsurprisingly, Biggs “did not respond to a request for comment.” Phoenix workers and small business owners kept the pressure up in a pre-rally press conference with FOX10, highlighting Sen. Analise Ortiz’s comment that “Andy Biggs and David Schweikert's fingerprints are all over Washington's cost-hiking agenda” that continues to be felt through ever-rising grocery, gas, and healthcare costs.
FUELING DOOM: New reporting highlights what Arizona families already feel at the pump: sky-high gas prices that could “spell doom” for Republicans up and down the ballot. Even Donald Trump is warning that prices could stay high through the midterms, leaving families bracing for more pain. That puts Andy Biggs and David Schweikert directly in the hot seat after backing the same Washington agenda driving costs higher. With Phoenix gas up nearly $2 in just two months and diesel near all-time highs, relief isn’t coming anytime soon. Add in the cost-hiking tariffs they continue to support, and it’s clear: Arizona families are paying more, and Biggs and Schweikert own it.
That’s all for Copper State Chaos this week. Thanks for reading – we’ll be back next week to keep tabs on the chaos. Have a great weekend!
