Copper State Chaos: Basement Biggs, Stop Embarrassing Me, and Kind of Trying

6/5/26, 10:00 PM

Welcome to Copper State Chaos, Copper State War Room’s weekly recap on the fails, feuds, and full-blown chaos in the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary.

With Andy Biggs and David Schweikert locked in a bitter race to the bottom, this primary is spiraling into an ugly, expensive mess. We’ll keep the receipts – so you don’t have to.

Don’t miss this week’s chaos:

BASEMENT BIGGS: This week, Copper State War Room launched "Basement Biggs,” a website exposing Andy Biggs’ long and well-documented record of refusing to answer questions about his extremism and votes to hurt Arizonans. Even Republicans have caught on, as one Republican put it, to Biggs’ “poor legislative record” as “an even tougher sell” to voters. Copper State War Room also launched a new quiz on BasementBiggs.com, “Did Biggs Answer or Hide?”, challenging Arizonans to test their knowledge through nine real examples in which Biggs was asked about his policies, political allies, or controversial record. In every case, the correct answer is the same: Biggs hid in the basement.

STOP EMBARRASSING ME: After Andy Biggs’ vote against Wednesday’s bipartisan resolution to end the war in Iran, he finally acknowledged what Arizona families already know: his agenda is driving up costs, especially at the gas pump. In a new report, the host recapped their conversation, with Biggs acknowledging that there has been “some downside” due to the war, which has been “costing people, particularly at the pump.” But Biggs made clear he was more concerned about avoiding a political “gotcha” that could “embarrass the president” than lowering costs for Arizonans. Now we know why Biggs doesn’t like answering questions about his record: when he finally does, there’s no way to avoid discussing how he raised costs on Arizona families.

KIND OF TRYING: Andy Biggs has been taking heat from his MAGA radio allies. “The Afternoon Addiction” host Garret Lewis continued to lambast Biggs’ basement campaign as he reacted to Copper State War Room’s Basement Biggs website. When describing Biggs’ campaign, Lewis says: “They are kind of trying, but it is just not quite working.” He also encouraged Biggs to be more “real” and “authentic.” This adds to a growing chorus of frustrated MAGA supporters questioning why Biggs has been so absent from the campaign trail, like “The Conservative Circus” host James Harris, who joked that Biggs may need to use AI to inject some energy into his campaign after a live caller and Biggs supporter asked: “Has anybody heard from Andy Biggs? Remember him?”

That’s all for Copper State Chaos this week. Thanks for reading – we’ll be back next week to keep tabs on the chaos. Have a great weekend!
