As Washington Piles On More Tariffs, Biggs Sticks Arizona Families With A Biggs Bill

8/3/26, 5:30 PM

Last week, Washington pushed forward new tariffs as high as 12.5 percent, following the expiration of Trump’s 150-day, 10 percent global tariff. Andy Biggs keeps defending the cost-hiking agenda that's already hitting Arizona small businesses, workers, and families hard. Americans have shouldered 90 percent of the nationwide tariff bill, and Arizona families alone are paying over $2,200 more since the start of 2025.

Biggs voted to protect Washington's tariffs, pushed to expand them further, and has even called them "a brilliant economic strategy." As Arizonans face rising costs at the checkout counter, Biggs has claimed there is "no inflation," insisted the tariffs are "not inflationary," and argued Washington has "tamed inflation" and "brought everything back down."

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“While new tariff hikes force Arizona families to pay even more on top of the thousands they're already out of pocket, Andy Biggs continues to defend these cost increases and put Washington insiders ahead of Arizona families.”
