Biggs and Schweikert Stick Arizona’s Businesses With 15 Percent Tariff Tax

From the border towns to the burbs, Arizona businesses are struggling with rising costs as a result of Washington’s cost-hiking tariff taxes, backed in full by Republican gubernatorial candidates Andy Biggs and David Schweikert. Biggs and Schweikert continued to prioritize Washington over Arizona, voting twice this year to protect the illegal tariffs and keep hiking costs.
Here’s how businesses across Arizona are paying the price for Andy Biggs and David Schweikert’s favorite tariff taxes:
In Chandler, Greg Fraley, a three-time Trump voter and COO of aluminum manufacturer FALCO, stated how tariffs on raw materials have increased his operating costs up to 72 percent, which have “clobbered” his business.
In Phoenix, arts and crafts business Spellbinders Paper Arts reported a staggering 900 percent increase in tariffs from 2024 to 2025.
Gustavo Acosta, President of the Nogales Customers Broker Association, said tariffs have killed small businesses in Nogales.
In the Yuma Foothills, cafe owner Karime Hayer voted for Donald Trump twice, yet was forced to raise prices after her operating costs spiked 25 percent because of tariffs.
In Tempe, Barry Chasse, CEO of Chasse Building Team, said that due to “such an unstable environment” created by steel tariffs, it has been exceedingly difficult to do business.
Arizona’s Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President Monica Villalobos said that its membership felt “a sense of betrayal” as a result of these tariff tax hikes.
In Tempe, Proof Bread owner Jon Przybyl says tariffs on construction materials prevented them from opening a new location in Gilbert.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Andy Biggs and David Schweikert are ignoring Arizona businesses getting hit by these chaotic and illegal tariffs. While they side with Washington’s cost-hiking agenda, Arizona businesses and families are stuck paying the price.”
