Arizona Families Paying $2,200 More Because of Biggs and Schweikert’s Cost-Hiking Agenda

A new Joint Economic Committee (JEC) report reveals that Arizonans have paid an extra $2,200 for goods and services due to Washington’s out-of-touch, cost-hiking agenda backed by Andy Biggs and David Schweikert.
The JEC found that Arizonans are paying $457 more for transportation costs, the fourth-highest cost increase for transportation of any state, driven in part by rising gas prices following Trump’s war in Iran, which Biggs and Schweikert support. In 2025 alone, Arizona families paid at least $1.6 billion in additional costs as tariffs were passed onto consumers through price increases on everyday products.
Despite the Supreme Court ruling these tariffs unconstitutional, Biggs and Schweikert voted twice this year to maintain them. Biggs has called tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy” and argued that tariffs were “not inflationary,” before claiming that Washington has “tamed inflation.” Schweikert bragged about personally “doing the calculations” with the White House on tariffs and proposed his own new tax instead of offering Arizonans relief.
Both continue to double down on an agenda squeezing Arizona families, which is set to worsen this summer with new tariff taxes.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Arizona families are paying the price for everyday goods as a result of Andy Biggs and David Schweikert’s tariff tax agenda and are pleading for relief. Each day that Biggs and Schweikert continue to ignore working families is another day they choose Washington over Arizona.”
