NEW SUMMER TAX: Tariff Hikes Set for July, Backed by Andy Biggs and David Schweikert

As temperatures rise across Arizona, so will costs, thanks to a new round of tariff taxes hitting in July that will make everyday goods more expensive.
Treasury Secretary Bessent recently confirmed Washington’s plans to "restore the tariff wall" by July. Despite the Supreme Court previously deeming such tariff taxes unconstitutional, both Biggs and Schweikert have supported cost-hiking tariffs, voting twice this year alone to keep them in place.
That push for higher costs comes as prices and inflation are already climbing. Arizonans are already feeling the impact: families paid an additional $1.6 billion in tariffs in 2025, and that burden is expected to grow in 2026.
Even as Arizonans pay more, Biggs called tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy,” and Schweikert bragged about personally “doing the calculations” with the White House on tariffs and proposed his own new tax instead of offering Arizonans relief. Both continue to double down on an agenda that is squeezing Arizona families, which will only get worse this summer with new tariff taxes.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Andy Biggs and David Schweikert keep choosing Washington over Arizona – and this new effort to accelerate tariffs is no different. Biggs and Schweikert will always prioritize Washington’s cost-hiking agenda over Arizona’s working families, and this is why Arizonans will never trust them to lead this state.”
