Inflation Continues To Hit All-Time Highs Because of Biggs and Schweikert’s Cost-Hiking Agenda

5/18/26, 9:30 PM

A new monthly report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that producer prices rose 6 percent between 2025 and 2026 --  the highest increase in more than three years -- thanks to the cost-hiking tariffs Andy Biggs and David Schweikert support.

Biggs and Schweikert’s agenda is driving especially painful cost increases for Arizona families. Grocery prices soared faster in April than in any month in nearly four years. According to former Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, almost half of core inflation is entirely because of tariffs. Last month, inflation followed this producer price trend and hit its highest point in three years at 3.8 percent, outpacing wage growth.

Arizonans paid an extra $2,200 for goods and services because of Biggs and Schweikert’s cost-hiking tariff agenda, according to a recent Joint Economic Committee report, and Arizona small businesses continue to reel from operating costs that are up to 900 percent higher. Biggs has called tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy” and argued that the tariffs were “not inflationary,” before claiming that Washington has “tamed inflation.” Schweikert bragged about personally “doing the calculations” with the White House on tariffs and proposed his own new tax instead of offering Arizonans relief.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“Arizona needs leaders who fight to lower costs, not ones who fight for cost-hiking tariffs that make everything more expensive. Andy Biggs and David Schweikert have repeatedly sold out Arizona families in support of a reckless Washington agenda, and Arizonans are paying the price every day.”
