Arizona Republicans Open New Year in Bitter, Chaotic Primary Fight

1/9/26, 3:00 PM

Over the holidays, you may have missed it: Arizona’s GOP primary is turning into a bare-knuckle brawl. In a Daily Caller interview, Andy Biggs took swipes at Karrin Taylor Robson and David Schweikert, bragging that only his endorsement from Donald Trump “matters” and dismissing rivals who “don’t have the relationship.”

This kind of infighting is nothing new.

  • Biggs, Taylor Robson, and Schweikert have all argued over who has Trump’s cell phone number instead of focusing on Arizona families. Taylor Robson even spent thousands of dollars to host a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, even though Trump was nowhere in sight.

  • Schweikert has piled on, calling Taylor Robson’s poll numbers “fake,” mocking them as “something an 18-year-old would do,” labeling her a “lobbyist” and “unelectable,” and urging her to drop out altogether.

  • Not to be outdone, a Schweikert campaign consultant also attacked Turning Point — a major backer of Biggs — citing its poor track record on “electability” and echoing Schweikert’s dismissal of Biggs as a “Twitter star.”

And that was all before 2026 even began. As the New Year begins, the GOP primary is already spiraling into a more expensive, more bitter fight.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“Instead of focusing on Arizona families, Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert are lobbing attacks at each other in an all-out brawl. As the election year begins, the Republican primary is only escalating, turning nastier, more expensive, and more bitter by the day, simply guaranteeing that whoever emerges will be too damaged and the GOP too divided to win in November.”
