Yuma Leaders Call Out Andy Biggs’ Washington Cost-Hiking Agenda on Second Stop of “Biggs Costs” Tour

7/27/26, 9:00 PM

YUMA – Today, Arizona Democratic Party Chair Charlene Fernandez and Yuma County District 4 Supervisor Tony Reyes delivered a scathing condemnation of Andy Biggs’ cost-hiking economic agenda that has directly caused all-time high grocery, gas, and healthcare prices. This was the second stop on Copper State War Room’s “Biggs Costs” Tour. You can read more about the previous stop in Phoenix, HERE.

  • Andy Biggs wants a 23 percent tax hike on everything Arizonans buy. Biggs has repeatedly backed a 23 percent sales tax, meaning higher costs on everyday purchases like groceries, clothing, school supplies, and household essentials. He has even called this new tax his "most passionate" tax policy.

  • Biggs voted to protect and expand the cost-hiking tariffs, causing groceries to hit all-time highs, and praised tariffs as “a brilliant economic strategy.” Biggs has claimed that there is "no inflation," said that the tariffs were “not inflationary,” and argued that Washington has “tamed inflation” and “brought everything back down.”

  • He voted to cut Arizonans’ healthcare and raise monthly premiums by 30 percent. Biggs also voted for the war in Iran four straight times, personally casting the deciding vote against bipartisan attempts to lower gas prices.

Yet despite the toll this Washington budget has taken on Arizona families, Biggs has called the cost-hiking partisan budget a "good thing" and has pushed for "the more cut approach.”

Arizona Democratic Party Chair Charlene Fernandez: “Because of Andy Biggs’ votes, diesel prices hit all-time highs, driving up shipping costs, supply chain costs, and the price of food across the nation. His tariff agenda is threatening agricultural exports and putting 7,500 Arizona agricultural jobs directly at risk, threatening the livelihoods of our local workers and growers.” Yuma County District 4 Supervisor Tony Reyes: “I am here today because my job is to put Arizona and Yuma County first, but Andy Biggs continues to put Washington politics ahead of our community. If you’ve been to any grocery store, you know that inflation IS a reality, it is a reality for shoppers in Arizona, it is a reality for shoppers anywhere. When Andy Biggs talks about “no inflation,” he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
