Rural Arizona “Shortchanged” After Biggs, Taylor Robson, Schweikert Back Massive Medicaid Cuts

1/8/26, 5:00 PM

After the federal government recently made funding announcements that left rural Arizona with one of the worst healthcare allocations in the country, pushing rural hospitals even closer to the brink of closure, Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson and David Schweikert have all stayed silent and refused to stand up to their party in Washington.

Specifically, Arizona received $33 million less than what the state requested.

This comes after all three GOP candidates already backed the largest Medicaid and rural healthcare cuts in Arizona history, which is the reason the state is asking for this emergency funding in the first place. In fact, this is the same funding the Biggs’ campaign falsely claimed would blunt the impact of Medicaid cuts he voted for.

Hospitals are already bracing for the consequences. Five rural hospitals are at risk of closing because of the partisan budget Biggs, Taylor Robson, and Schweikert backed.

Neal Jensen of Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center warned that “it’s going to be a crisis,” while Dave Cheney, CEO of Northern Arizona Healthcare, said, “I’m not sure how many rural hospitals will survive.”

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert sold out rural Arizona by backing massive Medicaid cuts that are pushing rural hospitals closer to shuttering and now they’re silent as Washington is shortchanging rural Arizonans. Arizonans won’t forget next November that Biggs, Taylor Robson, and Schweikert put partisan loyalty ahead of their healthcare.”
