Price Hikes on Everyday Items “Entirely Due to Tariffs” Andy Biggs Backs

10/12/26, 2:30 PM

A new report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York confirms what Arizonans have felt at the checkout line: Andy Biggs’ tariff agenda is costing them big time. In early 2026, tariffs contributed to nearly 3 percent inflation across everyday goods, and without them, the report noted, “goods prices would have fallen slightly.” The NY Fed also found that “90 percent of the 2025 tariffs were passed through to U.S. import prices.”

Biggs has voted to keep the tariffs that are hurting Arizona in place, pushed to expand them, and called them “a brilliant economic strategy.” Even as prices have continued to rise, Biggs has claimed there is “no inflation,” said tariffs are “not inflationary,” and argued that Washington had already “tamed inflation” and “brought everything back down.”

Last month, Biggs lost his temper when Arizona’s Family pressed him on his cost-hiking record, insisting “that’s not why Arizona is unaffordable.” The Arizona Capitol Times noted he “repeated support” for tariffs that “already have had an economic impact on Arizonans.” Arizona business leaders warn of their “damaging effects,” and the cost to Arizona households is more than $2,200 and counting.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“This new report confirms what Arizonans already know: Andy Biggs backed and pushed for Washington’s cost-hiking tariff agenda, and Arizona families are stuck footing the bill. He can call it a ‘brilliant economic strategy’ and insist there’s ‘no inflation,’ but Arizonans see right through him and know they’re paying the price every time they go to the checkout line.”
