Copper State Chaos: Tired of Losing, the Tariff Must Go On, and Release the Files!
2/27/26, 5:30 PM
Welcome to Copper State Chaos, Copper State War Room’s weekly recap on the fails, feuds, and full-blown chaos in the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary.
As Andy Biggs and David Schweikert are locked in a bitter race to the bottom, this primary is spiraling into an ugly, expensive mess. We’ll keep the receipts – so you don’t have to.
Don’t miss this week’s chaos:
TIRED OF LOSING?: Arizona’s Republican gubernatorial candidates continue to squabble, and now David Schweikert complained about Republicans like Andy Biggs, saying that despite Biggs running around arguing how conservative he is, ultimately Biggs is “not very good at executing” and is “not tough enough.” Schweikert confided that even the most feverish Biggs supporters have revealed to him that Biggs “can’t win the general election” and are “tired of losing.” Previously, Schweikert attacked Biggs’ record by saying, “Some of us actually do the work, and some people want to be Twitter stars.” He’s also accused Biggs of running on “resentment and grievances,” arguing that GOP voters want an “actual conservative.” Biggs’ allies have intensified attacks on Schweikert, filing a campaign finance complaint against him for a questionable transfer of funds from his federal account to his gubernatorial campaign.
THE SHOW TARIFF MUST GO ON: At the State of the Union, Donald Trump told the country that prices were going down and took a victory lap - despite rising prices and polling that shows Americans are deeply frustrated with his failed economic policies. Andy Biggs thought this characterization was “incredible,” having recently boasted that consumer prices are down (reality check: they are not) before subsequently declaring the current period an economic “Golden Age.” Both Biggs and David Schweikert have already voted twice this month to keep tariff cost hikes in place, and when Trump responded with new 15 percent tariffs, Biggs and Schweikert refused to stand up to stop them. In fact, Schweikert went a step further to propose a new tax hike on Arizonans, stating that he was “not going to let this whole thing fall apart” and wanted to implement a “universal tariff.”
RELEASE THE FILES!: A bombshell report revealed that multiple files containing credible accusations of sexual assault against Donald Trump were missing -- and Andy Biggs and David Schweikert have refused to say anything about this news. They have both repeatedly voted against releasing the Epstein files. Biggs absurdly equated accountability towards sex trafficking as a “‘gotcha' game,” a “ploy,” and “PR stunt.” Schweikert called the Epstein files a “shiny object” and argued that this issue, of whether to stand up for survivors of sexual abuse, does not represent “a threat to society.”
That’s all for Copper State Chaos this week. Thanks for reading – we’ll be back next week to keep tabs on the chaos. Have a great weekend!
