Biggs, Taylor Robson, and Schweikert Endorse Hiking Taxes on Working Seniors To Pay for Billionaire Tax Breaks

1/20/26, 9:15 PM

Last week, every Arizona GOP candidate running for governor endorsed their party’s state legislative plan to hike taxes on working seniors to pay for tax breaks for billionaires.

Instead of endorsing Gov. Hobbs’ plan to provide working seniors $6,000 in tax relief, Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert all lined up to endorse squeezing Arizona seniors.

  • Andy Biggs said that, by passing this sham plan to raise taxes on working seniors, "Arizona Republicans are aggressively delivering on our agenda."

  • Karrin Taylor Robson and David Schweikert both defended the scheme to raise taxes on working seniors, with Taylor Robson even describing these billionaire tax breaks as “common-sense.”

Hiking costs on working families is nothing new for all three of the GOP candidates. They all backed Washington’s partisan budget that raised healthcare premium costs across the board and placed 365,000 Arizonans at risk of losing healthcare.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert continuously show that they have no serious interest in lowering costs, choosing yet again to back a budget that places special interests and billionaire tax breaks above real widespread relief for working seniors.”
