Copper State Chaos: The Wild South, Street Fight, and Kari’s World
3/20/26, 10:00 PM
Welcome to Copper State Chaos, Copper State War Room’s weekly recap on the fails, feuds, and full-blown chaos in the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary.
With Andy Biggs and David Schweikert locked in a bitter race to the bottom, this primary is spiraling into an ugly, expensive mess. We’ll keep the receipts – so you don’t have to.
Don’t miss this week’s chaos:
THE WILD WEST SOUTH?: According to a new report from Arizona’s Family, Andy Biggs is pushing back against David Schweikert’s criticism of Biggs’ ties to white supremacy and antisemitism. Biggs did that by invoking none other than Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s ability to handle criticism. This drew immediate backlash from Schweikert, who said, “If you really intend to win an election in Arizona, I’m not sure you go around comparing yourself to a Confederate general.” When asked about his admiration of Lee, Biggs declined to comment on camera.
STREET FIGHT: The public feud between Andy Biggs and David Schweikert has not just stayed between the two candidates. Biggs quickly tapped his allies at Turning Point USA, who have not been shy about jumping into the ring. COO Tyler Bowyer berated Schweikert’ “warpath” offensive, billing it “desperate” and “insane.” Arizona Freedom Caucus founder and State Sen. Jake Hoffman has accused Schweikert of hating “MAGA and conservatives,” labeling him an “embarrassment” and a “hindrance.” Schweikert swung back, saying that “Biggs supporters” are “upset that they're learning the truth about their candidate.” There is no sign of this battle stopping anytime soon.
IT’S KARI’S WORLD, THEY’RE JUST LIVING IN IT: After the FBI subpoenaed Arizona’s 2020 electoral records, a new story from the Arizona Republic unveiled that Andy Biggs does, in fact, believe “another review of the extensively reviewed 2020 election was needed.” It’s nothing new for Biggs or David Schweikert, who have been longtime disciples of the Kari Lake election denial playbook, focusing on conspiracy theories and trying to overturn free and fair elections. Both Biggs and Schweikert denied and refused to certify the 2020 election results. Biggs was even credited with helping plan the January 6 attack on the Capitol before begging Trump for a pardon, and ignoring the congressional subpoena that followed. To this day, both Biggs and Schweikert have refused to answer who won the 2020 election in Arizona.
That’s all for Copper State Chaos this week. Thanks for reading – we’ll be back next week to keep tabs on the chaos. Have a great weekend!
