Schweikert Bows to Election Denialism, Refuses To Say Who Won Arizona in 2020

2/19/26, 3:00 PM

In an interview on 12 News last week, David Schweikert refused to answer a straightforward question: Did Donald Trump lose Arizona in 2020? Instead of giving a simple yes or no, Schweikert claimed he only knew the results “from [his] district” and said he didn’t have “polling on the rest of the state.”

But Schweikert already has an extreme record of refusing to certify election results from 2020. He has also stayed silent as members of his party vilify election officials, including recently refusing to condemn the raid on a Georgia election office.

Meanwhile, Schweikert's primary opponent, Andy Biggs, is one of the most extreme members of Congress in the country. He has spent his time scheming to overturn the will of Arizona voters and helping plan the January 6 rally that led to the violent attack on the Capitol. Biggs also allegedly sought a pardon for his role in the January 6 attack and refused to comply with a congressional subpoena.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“Locked in a bitter primary battle against Andy Biggs to prove who is the most extreme candidate in the race, David Schweikert refuses to say who won the 2020 election. This is just the latest proof that this chaotic GOP primary is going to keep going off the rails and both Biggs and Schweikert will always put their own extreme politics ahead of Arizona.”
