Biggs Backs Tax Hike on Arizona Seniors, Tax Breaks for Billionaires. Do Taylor Robson and Schweikert Agree?

1/15/26, 10:00 PM

This week, Arizona GOP legislators announced a new scheme to slash taxes for billionaires and hike taxes on working seniors. Andy Biggs eagerly endorsed this scheme, while Karrin Taylor Robson and David Schweikert have so far refused to weigh in.

Specifically, the GOP plan does not include Gov. Hobbs’ proposal for a $6,000 tax cut for seniors. Arizona Republicans modeled this legislation after the partisan Washington budget that all three candidates have endorsed, prioritizing corporate handouts at the cost of middle-class Arizonans, seniors, and their healthcare.

After every GOP candidate’s full-throated support of Washington’s budget, the question remains: Do Karrin Taylor Robson and David Schweikert also favor hiking taxes on Arizona seniors while giving billionaires like Taylor Robson a tax break that their Republican allies in the state legislature are pushing for?

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“By backing tax giveaways for billionaires and hiking taxes on working seniors, Andy Biggs has proven once again just how out-of-touch he is with Arizona families. And while Biggs cheers this scheme on, Karrin Taylor Robson and David Schweikert have stayed silent — proving they are too weak to stand up to their own party or fight for relief for Arizona seniors.”
