Vegetable Prices Up 50 Percent One Month After Biggs and Schweikert Defend Illegal Tariffs

A recent report is detailing how Arizonans continue to get crushed in checkout lines, as the cost of fresh and dry vegetables exploded by almost fifty percent thanks to the illegal tariffs supported by Andy Biggs and David Schweikert.
While families often search for additional savings by purchasing in bulk at wholesale clubs like Costco and Sam’s Club, wholesale prices have gone up “much more than expected” in February. Almost half of core inflation is entirely because of tariffs, according to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
The phenomenon of ever-increasing costs follows the one month anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling that Donald Trump’s cost-hiking tariff tax scheme was illegal.
As a reminder, Biggs and Schweikert voted twice last month to protect these tariffs. When Trump responded to the court’s decision by imposing a universal 15 percent tariff, Biggs remained silent while Schweikert proudly proposed a new “universal tariff,” stating that he wouldn’t “let this whole tariff’s thing fall apart.”
Overall, Biggs and Schweikert’s out-of-touch tariff agenda saw Arizona families pay an additional $1.6 billion due to tariffs in 2025. Previous data shows that American households paid an extra $1,700 annually, with that number predicted to rise even further into 2026. More than two out of three Americans blame tariffs for driving up prices, and Arizona small businesses continue to reel from operating costs that are up to 900 percent higher.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Arizona needs leaders who fight to lower costs, not ones who fight for illegal cost-hiking tariffs that hurt Arizonans. Neither Andy Biggs nor David Schweikert have hesitated to sell out Arizona families, who continue to pay the price for their reckless economic agenda.”
