TRAINWRECK ON PUBLIC TV: Andy Biggs Fails To Answer for His Extreme Cost-Hiking Record on Arizona PBS

10/2/26, 1:00 PM

Andy Biggs had a rough night on Arizona PBS’s “Candidates in Conversation,” where he was forced to answer for his extreme cost-hiking record.

  • Biggs said he "wasn't keen" on the war in Iran and that he has long advocated ending it, but he was fact-checked on this last week. 12News, Arizona’s Family, and Arizona Capitol Times all called out his six votes against ending the war, after he falsely claimed "I don't support the war" and challenged reporters to "tell me when I voted for it once.”

  • Biggs also touted that "gas prices already dropped," then hedged by saying he was "not making any guarantees" on further drops. That’s a far cry from May, when he told KTAR the war would end within weeks, gas prices would start falling in June, and told Arizona's Family there was an "incredibly high likelihood" of resolution within weeks. Seven months into the war, Arizona's average gas price is $4.77 for regular and $6.30 for diesel.

  • Biggs was asked about his vote for the largest Medicaid cut in Arizona history, which puts 400,000 people at risk of cost hikes. Arizona physicians and medical professionals have also condemned his goal of abolishing Medicaid (AHCCCS) entirely, which would strip coverage from over a million people, including 100,000 with severe mental illness and disabilities. Biggs’ campaign declined to explain why he dismissed those Arizonans, consistent with his past explanation that "you can't even cover them."

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“Andy Biggs failed to answer for his record again this week when confronted on his extreme, cost-hiking agenda. He voted six times to keep the war in Iran going, pushed to abolish Medicaid, and keeps raising costs on everyday Arizonans – and that’s why Arizonans can’t trust him as governor.”
