Tariffs on Every Tree: Christmas Costs Rise as Biggs, Taylor Robson, and Schweikert Back Higher Prices

Holiday shopping and Christmas cheer are here, but so are higher Christmas tree prices — driven by the GOP’s cost-hiking agenda that Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert fully support.

Artificial Christmas trees are up about 15 percent from last year, the American Christmas Tree Association reports, roughly a $30 to $45 jump on a $300 six-and-a-half-foot tree. And it’s not just Christmas trees — the lights to decorate them have surged by 63 percent compared to 2024.

Biggs and Schweikert voted twice against an effort to stop the cost-hiking tariffs. Biggs even called tariffs a “brilliant economic strategy,” and Schweikert bragged that he speaks to the White House about tariffs “every other day,” and is “doing the calculations.” Taylor Robson has argued that Trump should go further in raising costs for Arizona families, tweeting her full support for more tariffs, “Keep fighting, Mr. President!”

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“The toughest thing for Arizonans this Christmas isn’t trimming the tree — it’s affording one. Thanks to the reckless tariffs Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert support, Arizona families are paying more for Christmas trees, lights, and everything that goes under the tree. This is just more proof they’re putting their own extreme partisan agenda ahead looking out for Arizonans.”
