On Tax Day, Arizona Families Are Paying the Price for Biggs and Schweikert’s Tax-Hiking Agenda

Yesterday was Tax Day, but for Arizona families, the bills have been piling up all year thanks to Andy Biggs and David Schweikert’s support for Washington’s cost-hiking agenda.
Here’s how their cost-hiking agenda is eating into Arizona families’ tax refunds:
Tariffs: Arizonans paid an additional $1.6 billion due to tariffs in 2025, with the average American household forking out an extra $1,700, half of the average household’s tax refund amount of $3,462.
Healthcare: Monthly healthcare premiums in Arizona are up 30 percent because Biggs and Schweikert slashed healthcare funding and tax subsidies.
Small businesses: Across every corner of the state, Arizona small businesses face operating costs that are up to 900 percent higher.
This all comes as rising fuel costs - thanks to Trump’s war in Iran - are quickly wiping away any potential temporary boost from tax refunds for many families, as the average American household is expected to pay $740 more for fuel in 2026. Arizona’s average gas price remains higher than the national average, and diesel even more so.
Biggs and Schweikert have repeatedly backed DC’s cost-hiking agenda that is squeezing Arizona families. They voted twice this year to protect the illegal tariffs, opposed bipartisan efforts to lower costs, and backed a partisan budget that raises healthcare costs for Arizona families in order to give billionaires tax breaks. Biggs called tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy,” and Schweikert bragged about “doing the calculations” with the White House on tariffs. Now, Arizona families are paying the price.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“On Tax Day and beyond, Arizonans are paying more because of Andy Biggs and David Schweikert’s cost-hiking agenda. They have made life more expensive at the grocery store, gas pump, and the doctor’s office -- and Arizonans won’t forget it this November.”
