NEW REPORT: Biggs and Schweikert’s Healthcare Cuts Threaten Eight Arizona Hospitals

4/3/26, 3:00 PM

Eight hospitals in Arizona are at risk of closing or reducing services because Andy Biggs and David Schweikert voted to gut Medicaid, according to a new report by Public Citizen.

According to the report, “hundreds of hospitals serving millions of patients face increased risk of closing or reducing care due to Medicaid cuts,” including eight hospitals in Arizona. The full changes from Washington’s partisan budget aren’t set to take effect until next year.

Biggs said the partisan budget was a “good thing” and argued for “the more cut approach,” which would threaten even more hospitals with service cuts or closures. Schweikert has taken credit for writing the partisan budget, and then called Arizonans who are worried about Medicaid cuts “bedwetters” and told them to “toughen up.”

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

This report shows just how devastating Andy Biggs and David Schweikert’s Medicaid cuts are for Arizona, putting eight hospitals at risk of service cuts or closure while driving up healthcare costs on Arizona families. Arizonans won’t forget this November that Biggs and Schweikert sold out Arizonans’ healthcare to fund tax breaks for billionaires and put Washington first.”
