In Phoenix, Arizona Democrats Launch First Spanish-Language Press Conference Calling on Biggs, Taylor Robson, and Schweikert to Disavow Trump’s Tariffs

PHOENIX – Today, Arizona Democrats and community leaders held the first Spanish-language press conference of the 2026 cycle to call on Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert to disavow Trump’s reckless tariffs that have driven prices to all-time highs for Arizona families. All three have backed these tariffs in full.
Both Biggs and Schweikert voted twice against an effort to stop the cost-hiking tariffs. Biggs called tariffs a “brilliant economic strategy,” and Schweikert bragged that he speaks to the White House about tariffs “every other day,” and is “doing the calculations.” Karrin Taylor Robson has argued that Trump should go further in raising costs for Arizona families, tweeting her full support for more tariffs, “Keep fighting, Mr. President!”

ASU student Jazmine Garcia:
“I am not asking for a handout. I am not lazy. I work hard, I contribute to this community, and I am standing here today because I believe in the promise of Arizona, through late nights of studying and early mornings for work. But right now, that promise is being broken by prices that are spiraling out of control thanks to Trump’s tariffs and those who uphold them, notably Karrin Taylor Robson, Andy Biggs, and David Schweikert.”
District 26 State Senator Flavio Bravo:
“I am here to speak on behalf of every working family, on behalf of parents, on behalf of those who work long hours just to provide for the ones we love most. I listen to them. And they are screaming for relief. To Karrin Taylor Robson, Andy Biggs, and David Schweikert: will you stand up for us, or will you keep supporting the tariffs over Arizonans? It is a simple choice. If you cannot commit to disavowing the number one cause of higher costs, if you cannot call for the complete removal of tariffs, you cannot be taken seriously as a candidate for Governor.”
