Copper State Chaos: In A Word… Chaos, Tariffs for All, and Party Bosses Got Your Tongue?
2/13/26, 7:30 PM
Welcome to Copper State Chaos, Copper State War Room’s weekly recap on the fails, feuds, and full-blown chaos in the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary.
As Andy Biggs and David Schweikert are locked in a bitter race to the bottom, this primary is spiraling into an ugly, expensive mess. We’ll keep the receipts – so you don’t have to.
Don’t miss this week’s chaos:
IN A WORD… CHAOS: Billionaire Corporate Lobbyist Karrin Taylor Robson has hung up the gloves and ended her candidacy, with the GOP field now shuffling twice in the past six months. This will continue to be an ugly and chaotic race, with Schweikert already mocking Biggs, saying, “Some of us actually do the work, and some people want to be Twitter stars.” He’s accused Biggs of running on “resentment and grievances,” arguing GOP voters want an “actual conservative.” Get your popcorn, folks!
“YOU GET A TARIFF, YOU GET A TARIFF, EVERYBODY GETS A TARIFF!”: In a failed House vote on Tuesday night, Biggs and Schweikert voted against a bipartisan majority to block Congress from having the power to push back on federal tariffs and lower costs for Arizonans. The following day, they each voted a second time, cementing their desire for higher prices by backing tariffs that are causing skyrocketing grocery prices and raising costs to the tune of $1,700 extra per household annually – a number that’s predicted to rise even further in 2026.
PARTY BOSSES GOT YOUR TONGUE?: Copper State War Room called out Biggs and Schweikert for not standing up to Trump by refusing to condemn federal voter intimidation efforts in Fulton County, Georgia, just as fellow Republican Gov. Jan Brewer has done. Biggs was credited with helping to plan the January 6 attack on the Capitol and ignored the congressional subpoena that followed. Both Biggs and Schweikert refused to acknowledge the 2020 election results and voted against certifying Pennsylvania’s electoral votes. If they are willing to put their own partisan politics ahead of free and fair elections, how can Arizonans trust them to fight for us?
That’s all for Copper State Chaos this week. Thanks for reading – we’ll be back next week to keep tabs on the chaos. Have a great weekend!
