Copper State Chaos: Home Alone; 2020 Got Your Tongue?; Silence of the Biggs; Bedfellows

6/26/26, 8:00 PM

Welcome to Copper State Chaos, Copper State War Room’s weekly recap of the fails, feuds, and chaos in the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary.

Andy Biggs is running for governor while running from his own record. In a Republican primary where his opponents and his own party are sounding the alarm, this week showed just how extreme Biggs really is.

Don’t miss this week’s chaos:

HOME ALONE: Biggs has once again shown his true colors, voting against a bipartisan housing bill that would have lowered barriers for working families to build and purchase homes. His vote is the latest example of a pattern that has made life more expensive for Arizona families. Biggs has backed tariffs that drove up grocery prices, supported deep healthcare cuts in Washington’s partisan budget, and voted for the war in Iran that has driven up prices at the pump.

2020 GOT YOUR TONGUE?: Andy Biggs is dodging questions about his role in the January 6th attack on the Capitol. A new report from KJZZ details how Biggs' 2020 election denial is still haunting his campaign: "[Biggs] still won't say who he thinks won the 2020 election" and "dodged questions about the purpose" of a letter that was part of an effort to undermine election results. Biggs has never provided a full account of his activities surrounding the failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election results, and when subpoenaed by the January 6th Committee, he made clear he had no plans to comply.

THE SILENCE OF THE BIGGS: When asked in a questionnaire whether he would support a ballot referral to repeal Prop 139, which enshrined the right to choose in Arizona's constitution with both Republican and Democratic support, Biggs refused to answer the question entirely. When the Arizona Capitol Times asked directly, his campaign "did not directly address the question."

BEDFELLOWS: Earlier this week, Brahm Resnik dismissed Biggs' latest attempt to reinvent himself as bipartisan as "an obvious attempt to pivot to the center by a Trump partisan who votes for the president's priorities 94 percent of the time." Just this week, Biggs voted against a bipartisan housing bill that would lower barriers for working families to build and purchase homes. Republicans have warned about “another Kari Lake loss” and criticized Biggs’ close ties to far-right Turning Point, with David Schweikert arguing that Biggs is “wholly owned” by the organization. Biggs, for the first time, made a half-hearted attempt to distance himself from the extreme group, telling Deseret News yesterday that “TPUSA and I are not what I would call bedfellows.” Good luck with that, Andy!

That’s all for Copper State Chaos this week. Biggs can try to run from his record, but he can't hide. Copper State War Room will keep the receipts. Thanks for reading – we’ll be back next week to keep tabs on the chaos. Have a great weekend!
