Basement Biggs Refuses To Answer Whether He Supports Repealing Prop 139

Basement Andy Biggs is at it again, hiding from his record of voting to strip abortion rights from Arizonans.
When asked in a questionnaire whether he would support a ballot referral to repeal Prop 139, which enshrined the right to choose in Arizona’s constitution and earned both Republican and Democratic support, Biggs refused to answer the question entirely. And when the Arizona Capitol Times asked if Biggs would support a Prop 139 repeal effort, Biggs’ campaign “did not directly address the question.”
In 2024, Biggs answered the same questionnaire, saying he opposed adding abortion protections to Arizona's Constitution. Now that he's running for governor, he refuses to say whether he would repeal those same protections. His opponent, David Schweikert, pledged his support for an outright repeal.
Biggs' evasion is no surprise. His well-documented pattern of ducking questions about his record has earned him the nickname "Basement Biggs," and his extreme anti-abortion positions are exactly the kind of record he's desperate to hide from Arizona voters.
Andy Biggs called the Dobbs decision a “major victory.” He has repeatedly pushed for a nationwide abortion ban with no exceptions for rape and incest, threatening access to IVF and certain cancer treatments for women. When a Civil War-era ban was reinstated in Arizona in September 2022, Andy Biggs celebrated it as a “monumental win.” Biggs said that banning abortion is his “number one issue,” calling it “barbaric,” “evil,” and a “heinous genocide.”
David Schweikert was “pleased” to celebrate the Dobbs decision. He has cosponsored legislation to ban abortion nationwide six times, voted to restrict servicemembers’ access to reproductive care, and earlier this year, said he was “honored” to have an anti-choice record.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Andy Biggs has spent years voting to ban abortion with zero exceptions, restrict contraception, and undermine IVF access. His extreme, anti-choice agenda is out of step with Arizona voters, and no amount of hiding will change it.”
