AZ Republican Business Leader: “Nobody is Celebrating” Andy Biggs and David Schweikert’s Tariff Tax Agenda

Last Friday, Arizona’s Family highlighted how illegal tariffs that Andy Biggs and David Schweikert have strongly supported are hurting Arizona’s economy.
Arizona Chamber of Commerce CEO and president Danny Seiden, who was also a top staffer to former GOP Gov. Doug Ducey, told Arizona’s Family: “Nobody is celebrating.”
He added: “What we have seen are prices have gone up. The ability of certain manufacturers to move forward has been challenged because there’s not certainty on the prices, there’s no certainty on financing, you can’t plan that way.”
Arizona’s Family also noted families are feeling the effect of skyrocketing prices “every time they take a trip to the grocery store.”
Arizonans paid an additional $1.6 billion due to tariffs in 2025, with American households as a whole paying an extra $1,700, and these costs are expected to rise even higher in 2026.
Biggs and Schweikert voted twice this year to protect these tariffs. Biggs called tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy,” and Schweikert bragged about “doing the calculations” with the White House to set tariff rates.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Arizona’s business community is sounding the alarm, and Andy Biggs and David Schweikert are ignoring them to push their cost-hiking agenda. They’re both backing a failing tariff agenda that’s squeezing Arizona small businesses, driving up prices, and putting Washington first and Arizona last.”
