As Arizona Elections Face Federal Interference, Biggs and Schweikert Stay Silent

Yesterday’s FBI seizure of 2020 election records marks a troubling escalation in efforts to relitigate an election that was decided six years ago. Andy Biggs and David Schweikert have spent years amplifying the same election lies pushed by Kari Lake, and now they’ve refused to say a word as Arizonans’ right to cast a ballot comes under attack. Their silence gives cover to election deniers and shows they lack the backbone to stand up for Arizonans.
Despite President Trump’s own top election security official previously hailing Arizona’s 2020 election as “the most secure in American history,” Arizona now faces federal interference similar to last month’s raid on Georgia election offices.
Former Republican governors Jan Brewer and Doug Ducey have both defended Arizona’s elections. Brewer called Trump’s actions in Georgia “not constitutional” and “out of line,” while Ducey maintained that Arizona laws made it “easy to vote and hard to cheat.”
Both Biggs and Schweikert have denied and refused to certify the 2020 election results. Even worse, Biggs was credited with helping plan the January 6 attack on the Capitol, begging Trump for a pardon, and then ignoring the congressional subpoena that followed.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Arizona’s safe and secure elections are once again under attack from conspiracy theorists and election deniers who are trying to sow doubt ahead of the 2026 and 2028 elections. Do Andy Biggs and David Schweikert have the spine to stand up for Arizonans, or are they too afraid of their party bosses to defend our democracy?”
