Andy Biggs and David Schweikert Voted To Let Trump Funnel Taxpayer Dollars to His January 6 Slush Fund

This week, Andy Biggs and David Schweikert voted to let President Trump funnel taxpayer dollars to his January 6 slush fund. This vote follows Trump saying he’d be “disappointed” if the slush fund weren’t approved and continued calling it a “great idea.”
The vote raises serious questions for both Biggs and Schweikert.
David Schweikert had previously said he was “very concerned” about the slush fund — but when given the opportunity to stop it, Schweikert voted to let Trump funnel taxpayer dollars toward a fund that could compensate convicted January 6 insurrectionists.
Andy Biggs, meanwhile, has refused to answer basic questions about the fund despite his deep ties to the effort to overturn the 2020 election. Biggs helped fuel the events that led to January 6, pressured Arizona officials to decertify electors, worked with the White House to overturn the election, sought a presidential pardon afterward, and then ignored a congressional subpoena investigating the attack. Biggs is so close to the Capitol riot, he could be paid by the slush fund.
Arizonans deserve to know where Biggs stands. Trump has repeatedly praised the slush fund as a “beautiful thing” and a “great idea.” Does Biggs agree?
Basement Biggs has spent months hiding from voters instead of answering questions about his record. That silence is especially notable given that he has proudly said he is “never critical of President Trump publicly” and defended January 6 insurrectionists as “enthusiastic.”
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“David Schweikert said he was ‘very concerned’ about Trump’s January 6 slush fund, then voted to keep it alive. Andy Biggs helped fuel the events of January 6 and is now open to using taxpayer dollars to reward criminals. Arizonans deserve answers from both of them about why they voted to let Trump use taxpayer dollars on this slush fund.”
