“Similar Problems of His Own:” New White Supremacy Accusations in Arizona GOP’s Gubernatorial Primary

3/23/26, 8:00 PM

This weekend’s 105 degree heat may have shattered records, but we can guarantee that nobody’s breaking a sweat like Andy Biggs and David Schweikert. The Republican gubernatorial candidates continue to be embroiled in a “downright nasty” primary, and Schweikert is now facing some bigotry allegations of his own.

According to new reporting from AZ Family, “David Schweikert is accusing his primary opponent, Rep. Andy Biggs, of having ties to antisemites and white supremacists. But new information raises questions about whether Schweikert may have a similar problem of his own.”

In fact, the report called out Schweikert, who has been slamming Biggs’ history of cozying up to white supremacists and antisemites, for reaching out to “one of those very groups earlier this year, hoping to get an opportunity to speak at one of their events.”

The report detailed that this group, which “pushes antisemitic and racist books on its website,” said Schweikert “begged” to speak to them. This back-and-forth primary boxing match has spanned multiple rounds, but as Schweikert’s campaign has made clear: "That piece was a warm up, or an appetizer, for what's going to come.”

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“The tables have turned on David Schweikert, who is now finding himself entangled in the same web of extremism he’s been tying Andy Biggs to. This Republican primary has become a hypocritical race to the bottom where Biggs and Schweikert are tearing each other apart, all while sharing the same out-of-touch and harmful agenda.”
