"No Exceptions": Biggs Refuses To Oppose Deporting Dreamers

Recently, Andy Biggs’ choice for attorney general, Warren Petersen, said Arizona Dreamers should "be ready to be deported." Andy Biggs previously wrote in an op-ed that there should be "no exceptions" to mass deportations, and he has failed to distance himself from Petersen’s extreme position.
Even fellow Republican David Schweikert broke with Petersen, saying deporting DACA recipients "mathematically doesn't work" because many have been educated in Arizona, pay taxes, and contribute to the state's economy. Schweikert’s response came during Arizona PBS' “Candidates in Conversation” event, which Biggs declined to attend, continuing his pattern of avoiding questions from Arizona voters and the press about his extremist record.
Last year, Biggs wrote, “Some Republicans didn’t get the message. ‘What about our landscapers, our maids, our vegetable pickers?’ they ask. Can’t we make exceptions for them? The answer of course is really quite simple: No. No exceptions.”
Biggs has said he would "never support the DREAM Act" and argued DACA would "lay the foundation for further abrogation of our American heritage.”
Arizona is home to approximately 72,000 Dreamers—young people who grew up here, attended Arizona schools, work in Arizona businesses, and are raising Arizona families. Arizonans deserve to know why Andy Biggs believes those Dreamers should be deported under the "no exceptions" policy he has embraced.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Andy Biggs owes the 72,000 Dreamers who grew up in Arizona, went to school here, and call this state home an explanation for why he supports an out-of-touch ‘no exceptions' policy that would tear families apart.”
