Will Andy Biggs and David Schweikert Greenlight a Costly Wishlist?

4/7/26, 5:30 PM

The White House is out with a new budget request for Congress, and Arizonans are wondering: Where do Andy Biggs and David Schweikert stand?

Every year, the White House puts out a budget proposal – a wishlist – as part of the government funding process. From there, it’s up to Biggs, Schweikert, and their friends in Congress to decide whether to actually put Arizona first or once again fall in line with their party in support of a harmful, deeply out-of-touch agenda.

This year, President Trump’s wishlist for Biggs and Schweikert includes steep cuts to health, housing, and other essential programs, along with big increases for vanity projects. This misguided budget raises a critical question: Will Biggs and Schweikert stand with Arizonans, or will they make Donald Trump’s budget dreams come true?

Among other things, the White House is asking Biggs and Schweikert to rubber-stamp:

  • The elimination of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, a vital program that helps lower-income households heat and cool their homes.

  • $1.5 billion in cuts to the Transportation Security Administration, which would slash more than 9,400 workers just weeks after TSA staffing shortages caused chaos at airports across the country.

  • $15.8 billion in cuts to the Department of Health and Human Services, including $5 billion in cuts to medical research.

  • $377 million in new funding for renovations to the White House living space – an 866 percent increase over the $39 million estimated to have been spent in 2025.

  • $10 billion in new funding for “beautification projects” in and around Washington, DC… paired with $736 million in cuts for operations at national parks, such as Arizona’s Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, and Saguaro National Parks.

  • $0 to restore the tax credits that were slashed under last year’s partisan budget bill, threatening Arizonans’ healthcare.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“The White House can put out any wishlist it wants, but the question is, how much damage can Arizona take before Andy Biggs and David Schweikert stand up to Washington’s harmful policies? Biggs and Schweikert owe it to Arizonans to answer why they haven’t spoken out against these brutal cuts that will create chaos, kill jobs, and raise costs.”
