The High Cost of Loving: Arizonans Heartbroken by the Tariffs Backed by Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert

With love in the air this Valentine’s Day, Arizonans are facing a heartbreaking reality: they may have to choose between chocolate, flowers, or a dinner for two thanks to reckless federal tariffs backed by Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidates Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert.
This Valentine’s Day comes in the wake of the largest monthly price spike on groceries since the pandemic, with prices up in five of the six major food-at-home categories, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This "Cupid Tax" is hitting a plethora of Valentine’s Day staples across the supply chain:
Boxed chocolates are up 26 percent, following the ongoing trend that many families saw last Halloween
A simple bouquet is now a luxury, as tariffs hit the 80 percent of flowers imported from South America and caused 10 to 30 percent price hikes on the ribbons and vases that bring the whole bouquet together
All the candidates have crushes on these tariffs, even as they drive up food and day-to-day prices for Arizonans. Biggs called tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy.” Taylor Robson and Schweikert have also backed tariffs in full, and Schweikert even bragged about “doing the calculations” with the White House on tariffs.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Roses are red, violets are blue, tariffs are up, and your shopping bill is too. This Valentine’s Day, Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert continue to fall for Washington over Arizona, forcing working families to shoulder higher prices on chocolate, cocoa, and carnations.”
