The GOP Primary Is Off the Rails – and Biggs and Schweikert Are Driving the Chaos
2/17/26, 9:30 PM
Just days after Karrin Taylor Robson dropped out of the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary and Andy Biggs’ campaign called for unity, he and David Schweikert are already trading attacks — proving this race is anything but unified.
In a new interview on 12 News, Schweikert wasted no time attacking Biggs, accusing him of running on “past resentments.” Meanwhile, Biggs’ allies have intensified the attacks on Schweikert, filing a campaign finance complaint against him for his questionable transfer of money from his federal account to his gubernatorial campaign.
These attacks are nothing new for the race. Previously, Schweikert explained that he was the only “actual conservative” in the race, and mocked Biggs, saying that “some of us actually do the work, and some people want to be Twitter stars.” Schweikert’s own campaign consultant also criticized Turning Point, a major backer of Biggs’ campaign, citing their poor track record on “electability and candidates’ records.”
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“The GOP primary is off the rails, and Biggs and Schweikert are driving the chaos. Both candidates are racing to prove who’s more aligned with Washington’s harmful agenda, and whoever wins will have to answer for their extreme record of hiking costs and ripping away healthcare.”
