Tariffs Backed by Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert Hit Arizona Families With Nearly 30 Percent Utility Bill Hike

2/2/26, 9:30 PM

Arizona families are facing an increase of up to 30 percent on their electricity bills because of federal steel and aluminum tariffs backed by Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert.

That’s because tariffs as high as 50 percent on steel, aluminum, and other essential raw materials are directly impacting the cost of constructing, maintaining, and repairing power grids nationwide. Experts warn that “every time you put tariffs on aluminum or steel, that raises electricity costs,” which are subsequently passed on to customers.

While Arizona families are paying more, Biggs called the tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy.” Taylor Robson and Schweikert have also backed these tariffs in full, and Schweikert even bragged about “doing the calculations” with the White House on tariffs. All three candidates continue to ignore Arizona families and business owners, who are paying the price for this disastrous policy.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“When Arizonans see higher utility bills, they have Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert to thank. Whether it's cooling a home, keeping the lights on, or running a small business, the cost-hiking tariffs they back are a tax on every flip of a switch – forcing hardworking Arizonans to foot the bill.”
