One Year Later, Arizona Families Are Paying the Price for Biggs and Schweikert’s Tariff Taxes

4/2/26, 5:00 PM

Today marks one year since Washington’s tariff taxes took effect. Andy Biggs and David Schweikert have since spent every day backing this cost-hiking agenda and putting partisan politics ahead of Arizona families.

Here’s how Biggs and Schweikert have spent the past year sticking Arizonans with higher costs:

  • Biggs and Schweikert voted twice this year to protect these tariffs.

  • Biggs called tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy,” and Schweikert bragged about “doing the calculations” with the White House to set tariff rates.

The results have been devastating for Arizona families. Arizonans paid an additional $1.6 billion due to tariffs in 2025, with American households as a whole paying an extra $1,700. Prices remain high at the grocery store, and are expected to rise even higher in 2026. More than two out of three Americans blame tariffs for driving up prices, while Arizona small businesses face operating costs that are up to 900 percent higher.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“Today is the one-year anniversary of Andy Biggs and David Schweikert’s key economic promise to Arizona families: they will reach into your wallet and raise your costs to please their party bosses in Washington. In just one year, they’ve made life more expensive at the grocery store, the gas pump, and the doctor’s office, and that’s exactly why Arizona can’t afford either Andy Biggs or David Schweikert.”
