NEW REPORT: Andy Biggs and David Schweikert Rip Meals From 400,000 Arizonans, Including 180,000 Children

4/8/26, 10:30 PM

According to new reporting from ProPublica, more than 400,000 Arizonans have lost lifesaving SNAP benefits – “the largest decline in the nation by a wide margin” – because of the partisan budget bill backed by Andy Biggs and David Schweikert.

The report says, “The drop represents nearly 47% of the state’s participants in the program better known as food stamps and includes about 180,000 children.” The executive director of Arizona’s Center for Economic Progress described Arizona’s jaw-dropping decline as an “alarm bell” for the nation.

That alarm bell is a direct result of Biggs and Schweikert’s vote for the Washington budget. Biggs said this partisan budget was a “good thing” and has argued for “the more cut approach,” which would decimate Arizona families even further. Schweikert bragged that he personally “co-wrote” this “historic” bill, which is now leaving Arizona families to wonder where their next meal is coming from.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

This new report shows the cost of Andy Biggs and David Schweikert’s partisan agenda to Arizonans: ripping food out of the hands of 180,000 children all to fund tax breaks for billionaires. From now until November, they owe Arizona families answers for raising costs and ripping away meals to please their party bosses in Washington.”
