Copper State Chaos: Live, Laugh, Love (The Inflation); The $1.8 Billion Question; and Bipartisanship
6/12/26, 10:00 PM
Welcome to Copper State Chaos, Copper State War Room’s weekly recap on the fails, feuds, and full-blown chaos in the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary.
With Andy Biggs and David Schweikert locked in a bitter race to the bottom, this primary is spiraling into an ugly, expensive mess. We’ll keep the receipts – so you don’t have to.
Don’t miss this week’s chaos:
LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE (THE INFLATION): This week, after inflation climbed above 4 percent for the first time in three years, President Trump declared, “I love the inflation.” Arizonans deserve to know: do Andy Biggs and David Schweikert agree? Biggs has repeatedly claimed that cost-hiking tariffs are “not inflationary,” called them a “brilliant economic strategy,” and even argued that Washington had “tamed inflation.” Schweikert, meanwhile, bragged about personally “doing the calculations” with the White House on inflationary tariffs. Thanks to Biggs and Schweikert, Arizona families paid an extra $2,200 for goods and services, according to a Joint Economic Committee report.
THE $1.8 BILLION QUESTION: Today, Copper State War Room released “The Question,” a digital video highlighting Andy Biggs’ silence on the $1.8 billion January 6 slush fund, which could compensate convicted criminals. Given Biggs’ role in helping spearhead the violent insurrection, according to a January 6 organizer, Arizonans deserve answers. Earlier this week, Biggs and David Schweikert both voted to let Trump funnel taxpayer dollars to his January 6 slush fund, after Trump said he’d be “disappointed” if the slush fund weren’t approved, and even called it a “great idea.” New reporting indicates Trump administration officials are still working behind the scenes to find ways to deliver taxpayer-funded payouts, making Biggs’ and Schweikert’s votes even more alarming. Basement Biggs has spent months hiding from voters instead of answering questions about his record. That silence is especially notable given that he has proudly said he is “never critical of President Trump publicly” and defended January 6 insurrectionists as “enthusiastic.”
BIPARTISANSHIP: Yesterday, Democrats and Republicans in the Legislature overwhelmingly voted for Gov. Katie Hobbs’ Arizona First budget. Andy Biggs made sure to “commend” its passage, and the Copper State War Room was quick to thank him for recognizing Gov. Hobbs’ huge bipartisan victory. That’s all for Copper State Chaos this week. Thanks for reading – we’ll be back next week to keep tabs on the chaos. Have a great weekend!
