Karrin Taylor Robson Deepens GOP Infighting by Supporting Crackdown on ESA Waste and Abuse

Arizona Republicans are in open conflict over what to do with the waste, fraud, and abuse in the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program, with GOP gubernatorial candidate Karrin Taylor Robson joining AZGOP Party Chair Gina Swoboda in calling for oversight — a move that ignited a firestorm and call for Swoboda’s resignation from party hardliners Jake Hoffman and Liz Harris last week. 

On KTAR’s Mike Broomhead Show last week, Taylor Robson said that “anywhere we find waste, fraud, or abuse, we have to expose it,” after an Auditor General report found that taxpayer dollars meant for education were spent on lingerie, diamond rings, and luxury vacations. 

While Karrin Taylor Robson joins the Republicans’ “bitter party war,” Andy Biggs has stayed silent on why he thinks taxpayers’ education funding should be spent on luxury personal expenses.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“Arizona Republicans’ bitter party war is only getting more absurd and out-of-touch as it has become controversial to support cracking down on taxpayer dollars getting wasted on lingerie and diamond rings. As Karrin Taylor Robson puts herself in the crosshairs and Andy Biggs stays silent, the divisions are getting deeper as this primary races further to the extreme.”
