Jan Brewer's Own Words: Andy Biggs Will "Never" Win Independents, Will Lose the General Election, and His Healthcare Cuts Will "Kill People"

7/23/26, 6:00 PM

No matter what the Biggs’ campaign and his allies are trying to sell to voters now, the reality is former GOP Governor Jan Brewer has already been very clear in warning Arizonans how Andy Biggs can't win independents, can't win a general election, and voted for a partisan budget that, in her words, would "kill people."

When asked if independents would vote for Biggs, Jan Brewer said last year on KTAR: “Never.” She also warned that if “Andy wins, we lose the general [election].”

Brewer also forcefully rejected the very Medicaid cuts that Biggs later embraced as part of Washington’s partisan budget, saying, “You can't kill people to balance your budget. You just can't do that." Brewer had to go around Andy Biggs to pass Medicaid expansion and provide healthcare to 300,000 Arizonans.

Despite Brewer's warning, Andy Biggs voted for the largest healthcare cuts in modern history, legislation that cuts Medicaid, kicks hundreds of thousands of Arizonans off their healthcare, threatens rural hospitals with closure across the state, and raises healthcare costs for working families. Rather than opposing those cuts, Biggs defended them as "a good thing" and argued for "the more cut approach."

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

"Jan Brewer spent the last year telling the truth about Andy Biggs: he can't win independents, he will lose the general election, and the healthcare cuts he supports would kill people. Andy Biggs can't outrun a record of raising costs, slashing healthcare, and putting his extreme ideology ahead of Arizona.
