Hunting for Relief: Arizonans Only Found Higher Prices This Easter Thanks to Biggs and Schweikert’s Tariff Taxes

On Easter Sunday, Arizona families continued to find higher prices, thanks to the costly tariff agenda of Andy Biggs and David Schweikert. Despite the Supreme Court ruling federal tariff taxes unconstitutional, Biggs and Schweikert voted twice this year to keep their cost-hiking tariff agenda in place.
Here is how Biggs and Schweikert’s tariffs put Arizonans’ eggs in one very expensive basket this Easter:
According to the National Retail Federation, individuals are budgeting for a record high of $195.59 per person because everything is getting more expensive, from Easter baskets (up 34 percent) to decorations and plastic eggs.
Chocolate is more expensive, yet smaller and worse. Cocoa prices rose, in part because of tariffs, causing “reformulations” to lower quality ingredients, so much so that several companies have been forced to redefine their products as “chocolate candy” and not “milk chocolate.”
A simple bouquet is now a luxury, as tariffs hit the 80 percent of flowers imported from South America and caused 10 to 30 percent price hikes on the ribbons and vases that bring the whole bouquet together.
Arizona families already paid an additional $1.6 billion in 2025 because of tariffs, a burden predicted to rise even further in 2026.Both Biggs and Schweikert own the higher costs Arizona families saw this Easter. Biggs called tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy,” and Schweikert bragged about personally “doing the calculations” with the White House on tariffs.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“This Easter was another reminder for Arizonans who bought chocolate, flowers and other holiday items that Andy Biggs and David Schweikert are making everything in their life more expensive. There is no sweet treat for working families at the checkout counter because Biggs and Schweikert continue to follow orders from their party in Washington instead of protecting the wallets of Arizona families.”
