Five Years After January 6 Riot, Biggs, Taylor Robson, and Schweikert Still Pushing Election Conspiracies

Five years ago, Donald Trump and Arizona Republicans fueled a violent attack on the nation’s Capitol, leaving five people dead and injuring over 140 law enforcement officers in an attempt to subvert the transition of a free and fair election. Before and after January 6, Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert have promoted election lies, conspiracy theories, and fake elector schemes in Arizona.
Additionally, all three GOP candidates for governor have refused to condemn the mass pardons of the January 6th criminals - even as some of the people released have gone on to commit violent crimes.
Andy Biggs was one of the main architects of the insurrection. He tried to convince legislators to decertify the election results, and subsequently begged for a presidential pardon.
Karrin Taylor Robson continuously said the 2020 election “wasn’t fair,” dodged all requests to elaborate, and refused to commit to certifying the 2024 election results if she were governor. Taylor Robson is still promoting election conspiracies, recently alleging “rampant fraud” in Maricopa County, a glaring reminder that she will put her own ambition first and sell out Arizonans when given the chance.
Like Biggs, David Schweikert voted against certifying the 2020 election, refused to acknowledge President Biden’s victory, and then voted to block investigations into the January 6 attack. Schweikert lamented the prosecution of the insurrectionists who attacked the Capitol on January 6th, saying they had no “malice in their souls.”
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said: “January 6 was a deadly attack on our democracy that injured more than 140 law enforcement officers. Five years later, Andy Biggs, Karrin Taylor Robson, and David Schweikert are still spreading election lies and refuse to disagree with pardons that let violent criminals out of jail, showing just how far they’re willing to go to appease Washington extremists.”
