Copper State War Room Statement on David Schweikert’s New Scheme To Hike Taxes on Arizonans

Ahead of Republican gubernatorial candidate David Schweikert’s hearing on his proposed border tax, a scheme he rolled out after the Supreme Court rejected federal tariffs, Copper State War Room released the following statement from spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado: 

“David Schweikert is so obsessed with hiking costs on Arizonans that he’s now trying to slap a new tax on families and small businesses across our state. After the Supreme Court ruled against Donald Trump’s cost-hiking tariffs, Schweikert vowed he was ‘not going to let this whole thing fall apart’ — and now he’s doubling down with a plan to make Arizonans pay even more.

“This morning, Schweikert will continue advancing his out-of-touch Washington agenda to raise costs and implement new taxes, despite families and businesses pleading for relief. Time and again, Schweikert has shown he’ll sell out Arizonans to please his partisan party bosses — even if it means higher prices at the grocery store, higher utility bills, and more strain on working families.”
