Copper State Chaos: It’s No Biggs Deal; A Biggs Question He Won’t Answer; Scammers’ Best Friend

7/3/26, 9:00 PM

Welcome to Copper State Chaos, Copper State War Room’s weekly recap of the fails, feuds, and chaos in the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary.

Andy Biggs is running for governor while running from his own record. In a Republican primary where his opponents and his own party are sounding the alarm, this week showed just how extreme Biggs really is.

Don’t miss this week’s chaos:

IT’S NO BIGGS DEAL: Legislative Democrats and Republicans were finalizing a deal to close loopholes in the ESA entitlement program. Andy Biggs did what he does best: injected partisan politics into bipartisan negotiations. The result? His “Biggs Deal” immediately crashed and burned, undermining bipartisan efforts to protect the rights of police, firefighters, and teachers. As a result of his failed scheme, taxpayer dollars will keep funding waste, fraud, and abuse — including purchases like California theme park tickets, lingerie, and diamond rings.

A BIGGS QUESTION HE WON’T ANSWER: Andy Biggs’ own pick for attorney general, Warren Petersen, said Arizona Dreamers should "be ready to be deported." It's a stance ripped straight from Biggs' own record: "no exceptions" to mass deportations, never backing the DREAM Act, and branding DACA a threat to “our American heritage.” Even fellow Republican David Schweikert broke with Petersen, saying deporting DACA recipients "mathematically doesn't work." Biggs owes Arizona Dreamers an explanation for why he supports an out-of-touch “no exceptions” policy that would rip families apart.

SCAMMERS’ BEST FRIEND: Andy Biggs was one of only two members of Congress to vote against the Financial Exploitation Prevention Act, bipartisan legislation to protect seniors from scams. It's the latest in a pattern of Biggs voting against bipartisan efforts to protect and help Arizonans: He’s voted for higher housing costs, higher grocery prices, higher healthcare premiums, and higher gas prices. And now he's voting against protections for Arizona seniors against financial predators.

That’s all for Copper State Chaos this week. Biggs can try to run from his record, but he can't hide. Copper State War Room will keep the receipts. Thanks for reading – we’ll be back next week to keep tabs on the chaos. Have a great weekend!
