CNN: Biggs Is a "Particularly High Profile Election Denier" Who "Went The Furthest" in Subverting 2020 Election Results

New reporting from CNN's KFile is spotlighting Andy Biggs' extreme history of election denialism. Biggs pushed false claims of election fraud, schemed to overturn the will of Arizona voters, and reportedly helped plan the January 6th rally that led to the attack on the Capitol. Even his own brothers said he is "partially to blame" for the insurrection, and a former Trump aide accused him of seeking a pardon for his role in the attack.

Biggs also refuses to acknowledge who won Arizona's 2022 gubernatorial election and continues to deny the results of the 2020 presidential election, repeatedly showing he cannot be trusted to accept the will of Arizona voters.

CNN: GOP gov candidates cast election doubts, look to lead key 2028 states

• Erin Burnett: Republicans who denied, challenged, or cast out Donald Trump's 2020 election loss are running for governor, and they are doing that in some of the most important battleground states in America, including Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Georgia. And the stakes are incredibly high, if these candidates win in November, they'll be in positions to shape, be in charge of election laws, and play a formal role in certifying the results of the 2028 presidential election. 

• Andrew Kazinski: You are very right about how high the stakes are, because these are true swing states. Each of the states Joe Biden won in 2020, Donald Trump won them in 2024, so they will literally decide the 2028 presidential election. And two of these candidates for governor, Andy Biggs in Arizona and Tom Tiffany in Wisconsin, actually used their official actions as members of Congress to try and block Biden's 2020 victory. Both also backed a Texas lawsuit seeking to overturn the results in four states, and on January 6, both voted to sustain objections to Biden's Electoral College victory. Andy Biggs, Republican congressman, this guy really went the furthest. The Republican Speaker of the Arizona House actually testified that Biggs called him on the morning of January 6th and asked him to support decertifying Arizona's electors. Before that, Biggs was publicly criticizing Arizona's Republican governor, Doug Ducey, for certifying the election results. Now Tom Tiffany, running for Wisconsin governor, also claimed at the time that roughly 200,000 ballots had been affected by what he called illegal practices, in justifying his vote to object to the election results. Now Biggs didn't return a request for comment, but Tiffany, in a statement to CNN, now says this: he says “Joe Biden won,” talking about the 2020 election, and added, “I'll certify whoever wins the most votes in Wisconsin.”

  
  

CNN: 2020 election skeptics seek governor’s offices in battleground states

• Republicans with records of denying, challenging, or casting doubt on Donald Trump’s loss of the 2020 presidential election are now running for governor in five key battleground states where, if elected, they could play pivotal roles in the upcoming 2028 presidential election.

• Rep. Andy Biggs in Arizona, Rep. John James in Michigan, state treasurer Stacy Garrity in Pennsylvania, and Rep. Tom Tiffany in Wisconsin are four candidates whose records on 2020 range from falsely stating Trump won their state to actively trying to block Joe Biden’s victory.

• In response to CNN’s questions, three of the candidates – Tiffany, Garrity and Jackson – acknowledged that Biden won the election in 2020 and committed to certifying the winner of the 2028 presidential election if they are elected governor.

• If they win their gubernatorial races this November, they would be poised to play key roles in cooperating with federal election investigations, signing or vetoing election legislation, and certifying the winner of the 2028 presidential election. Under federal law, governors must finalize and submit who won the popular vote in the state and transmit the certificate to the federal government.

• Biggs and Tiffany, as members of Congress, voted to overturn the 2020 election that Joe Biden won.

• Biggs was a particularly high-profile election denier, involved in efforts to challenge Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s election results. The Republican speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives testified to Congress’ Jan. 6 committee that Biggs pressured him to support decertifying the election for Trump.

• In late 2020, Biggs claimed in a TV interview that then-Gov. Doug Ducey “wouldn’t take time to get to the bottom of these [election fraud] allegations” and that as governor, he “could have invalidated the election. He wasn’t interested in doing that,” with an audit of the results.

• In 2024, after Arizona’s 11 fake electors and seven other individuals were indicted by local law enforcement, Biggs called on the state attorney general to drop all charges and resign.

• The case was dismissed this week by a Maricopa County judge, but the judge left the door open for the state attorney general to refile charges.

• Biggs’ campaign did not respond to CNN’s multiple requests for comment.
