Arizona Farmers Warn Biggs and Schweikert’s Tariff Agenda Is Hurting Arizona Agriculture

Arizona farmers and agricultural leaders are warning that Washington’s reckless tariff agenda is hurting Arizona’s agriculture industry and raising costs, but Andy Biggs and David Schweikert continue to back the same policies that are driving up prices for Arizona families.
At a recent Arizona agricultural roundtable, dairy farmer and Arizona Farm Bureau board member Jim Boyle warned plainly: “Tariffs hurt the American farmer.”
Agricultural leaders also warned that tariffs are increasing fertilizer costs and contributing to higher grocery prices across Arizona.
When asked, specifically, if he supported the tariffs on Mexico last week, Biggs was clear: “Yeah, I do.” He then doubled down, saying that he would like to “explore [tariffs] more.” Arizonans paid an extra $2,200 for goods and services because of Biggs and Schweikert’s cost-hiking tariff agenda, according to a recent Joint Economic Committee report. Biggs has called tariffs “a brilliant economic strategy” and argued that the tariffs were “not inflationary,” before claiming that Washington has “tamed inflation.” Schweikert bragged about personally “doing the calculations” with the White House on tariffs and proposed his own new tax instead of offering Arizonans relief.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Arizona farmers are making clear that these reckless tariffs are hurting Arizona agriculture and driving up costs on working families. Andy Biggs and David Schweikert continue supporting Washington’s agenda that is making it harder for Arizona farmers to compete and more expensive for Arizonans to put food on the table.”
