Arizona’s Family: “Andy Biggs Has Yet to Get Off the Ground,” as Republicans Sound Alarm Over His Floundering Campaign

9/9/26, 3:30 PM

New reporting by Arizona’s Family is spotlighting Andy Biggs’ failure to build any campaign momentum, which has spurred growing discontent among his supporters.

On Monday, Arizona GOP state party chair Sergio Arellano wrote in a newsletter: “I know many of you have been concerned that you haven’t seen ads… We are not ignoring you. We are not taking your vote for granted…”

The Arizona’s Family newscasters described Biggs’ underwater campaign by saying “Andy Biggs has yet to get off the ground” and that “it doesn’t look good for the Republicans right now.”

Even former Arizona GOP Chair Gina Swoboda said that she is “getting bombarded by ads for Governor Hobbs.”

Arizona’s Family: Arizona Republicans sound the alarm over ad gap

  • For weeks, Governor Katie Hobbs has been blitzing Arizona airwaves, spending millions of dollars to persuade voters and target her Republican opponent, Andy Biggs.

  • Meanwhile, a massive spending gap has left the state Republican Party defending its strategy and raising concerns among party faithful that they lack the resources to fight back.

  • While exact campaign finance numbers remain undisclosed, Hobbs has spent over $10 million on television advertisements.

  • Biggs, by contrast, has yet to launch a traditional television campaign, leaving his message confined mostly to online platforms and social media.

  • The stark ad gap prompted Arizona Republican Party Chair Sergio Arellano to address growing frustration within the party.

  • In a recent newsletter, Arellano acknowledged the anxiety while promising that “more ads are on the way.”

  • “I know many of you have been concerned that you haven’t seen ads,” Arellano wrote, arguing that the party is being “as fiscally conservative with our donors’ contributions as we possibly can be.”

  • However, Gina Swoboda, former chair of the Arizona Republican Party, said now is not the time to get conservative with money.

  • “Your job is to get to zero,” Swoboda said. “From my perspective, the money is there to spend.”

  • Swoboda warned that the spending discrepancy is leaving even reliable Republican voters inundated with Democratic messaging.

  • “It’s clear that the Democratic Party has a war chest and they’re deploying it,” Swoboda said. “I am getting bombarded by ads for Governor Hobbs and ... every election I vote Republican.”

  • Political observers note that the one-sided ad war carries significant risk for Biggs, as the unanswered barrage of Hobbs campaign ads allows her team to define him to unfamiliar voters.
