Andy Biggs Applauds GOP Legislature’s Budget That Cuts Healthcare and Border Security To Give Tax Breaks to Billionaires and Special Interests

Andy Biggs has announced his full support of the Arizona GOP Legislature’s budget proposal, which is nothing more than a new scheme to rip away Arizona’s healthcare, border security, and wildfire prevention funding to pay for billionaire and special interest tax breaks. Meanwhile, David Schweikert remains silent.
Here is what Biggs wants to “applaud” in the GOP Legislature’s sham budget proposal that he calls “common sense”:
$10.9 million cut to border security funding
Putting 21,000 good-paying jobs at risk by cutting the Arizona Competes Fund that bolsters the state’s economic development
$2.2 million cut to the Department of Forestry and Fire Management and $0 for the Wildfire Suppression Fund ahead of Arizona’s wildfire season
Eliminating 1,000 units of affordable housing by slashing $14 million from the Housing Trust Fund
$600 million in tax breaks to billionaires and special interests and a $30 million tax break to data centers
It’s no surprise Biggs is backing this fiscal nightmare, while Schweikert remains silent, because they both supported the partisan federal budget that rips healthcare away and raises costs.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Andy Biggs already voted for a disastrous budget in DC that cuts healthcare and raises costs to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. Now he’s applauding the state GOP Legislature’s proposal that would inflict even more damage with massive cuts to healthcare, border security, and wildfire prevention, all while handing out tax giveaways to billionaires and data centers. The last thing Arizona needs is to take cues from extreme Washington politicians like Andy Biggs, who continue to make all of our problems even worse. The only question now: Will David Schweikert follow him, or is he too afraid to speak out?”
